PRESS: DeviantArt deletes banned content after Russian restrictions

MOSCOW, Aug 10 (PRIME) -- Online art gallery and community DeviantArt has deleted most of the banned materials after the Russian communications service restricted access to the resource, daily Izvestiya reported on Tuesday, citing the watchdog.

“At the moment (Tuesday), the resource’s administrators deleted on their own 44 out of 48 forbidden materials mentioned in the request by the communications service. The authority is watching the deletion process and assesses the work done by the site’s administration as positive,” a watchdog representative said.

“After the deletion of the whole pack of illegal content indicated in the request by the communications services, access to the resource can be restored,” the representative said.

After the blocking, the resource’s administration contacted the authority and said it was ready to erase the forbidden content.

The watchdog restricted access to DeviantArt earlier in August.
